BOP SCALE

Introduction: The Bop scale is actually a Mixolydian mode except with a half step added between the root and the 7th scale step.

Scale

Chord Compatibility

Just like the Mixolydian mode, the bop scale can be played over the Dominant 7th chord family.

Legend

vertical lines = strings (thickest line represents low E)
horizontal lines = frets
numbers = fingering

1 = thumb
2 = index finger
3 = middle finger
4 = ring finger
5 = pinky

Red numbers = Represents the added half step between the root and 7th scale step. For example, if you were to play this scale in the G position (index finger [2] on the 6th string/3rd fret), red numbers would be F# (or Gb) notes. You can slide this scale up or down the fretboard to play in any key.
